Skip it for a permanent vehicle build, because at this budget a lithium bank with a DC-DC charger and an inverter gives you more usable energy for less money and less mass.

What it does well
- It replaces an entire electrical system with a purchase. No fusing, no cable sizing, no bus bars, no installer.
- LFP chemistry and a five-year warranty mean this is a decade-scale purchase rather than a season-scale one.
- 240V output is unusual and it is what lets it run things a normal power station simply cannot.
- A 10 ms transfer time makes it a genuine uninterruptible supply for a fridge or a CPAP.
- It moves between vehicle, house and worksite, which a hard-wired bank never does.
Where it falls short
- It is heavy, and in a vehicle every pound comes out of payload. That is a safety number, not a convenience one.
- Per usable watt hour it is more expensive than a lithium bank plus a DC-DC charger plus an inverter, and the gap at this budget is large.
- Charging it from the alternator at any real rate needs a substantial DC input path, so the wiring you avoided partly comes back.
- It occupies a large single volume that has to be secured. An unsecured 4kWh box is a projectile in a collision.
- Everything is behind one proprietary system. A cell or a controller failure is a whole-unit problem rather than a component swap.

Owner reports on large EcoFlow units are consistent about capability and equally consistent about mass. People who bought one for home backup or for a base camp are very happy; people who bought one for a build often end up wishing they had wired a bank instead, and the reason is almost always weight and the cost of the DC charging path. The second theme is that people size these by capacity rather than by load, which is backwards. Work out what you actually draw over a day with the power consumption calculator, then check the peak against the inverter sizing calculator. Most builds need far less capacity and slightly more surge than they assume.
Third, weight. A unit of this size is a meaningful fraction of a mid-size vehicle's payload before you add fuel, water, a fridge, a tent and people. Anything electrical in a vehicle should be installed to a standard you would be happy to show an inspector; if you are not confident about fusing and cable sizing, get a qualified installer to do that part.
