Complete overland power builds
Three finished 12V systems rather than three shopping lists. Each one includes the battery, the charging, the solar, the inverter, the fusing, the cable and the loads, with a per-item price and a real running total. Buy the list and you have a working system.

Look at the "days with no charging" column before the total. The beginner and intermediate builds are almost identical there, which is the single most useful thing on this page: the intermediate build does not buy you more coasting, it buys you a charging path fast enough that coasting stops mattering. The expert build is the first tier where storage itself is the answer.
Which build is right for you?
- Weekends, and you do not want to modify the vehicle. The beginner build. A sealed power station does its own fusing internally, which makes it the safest first system by a wide margin, and nothing is drilled or cut.
- Weeks at a time, and you drive most days. The intermediate build. A 50A DC-DC charger turns two hours of driving into a full battery, which changes the trip rather than the packing list.
- Full time, working from the vehicle, parked for a week. The expert build. Read the "who should not buy this" section on that page first, because most people asking about it should buy the intermediate build instead.
Size it against your own numbers first
None of these builds is right until it matches your own load list and your own vehicle. Start with the power consumption calculator to find your daily amp-hours, then the battery bank calculator to turn that into a bank size, then the solar array calculator to see what the roof can give back. Before you order a battery, run the payload calculator against the sticker on your own door jamb, because payload is the constraint that stops more builds than money does.

Electrical safety: a 12V system is low voltage but not low energy. Every circuit in any of these builds must be fused at the source of power, within a few inches of the battery terminal, at or below the ampacity of the smallest conductor it protects. Size cable for voltage drop as well as ampacity, and have any lithium installation inspected by a qualified installer before it carries load.
