Every guide presents three tiers rather than one flat list, because a weekend setup, a real dual battery system and a full off-grid rig are genuinely different purchases. Prices and specifications come from published manufacturer data and verified owner reviews.

How these guides are put together

Each guide names a Beginner, an Intermediate and an Expert pick, gives a real reason for each, and says plainly who should not buy the expert tier. We do not test gear in person. Every specification quoted is the manufacturer published figure and every price was checked against a live listing when the page was written, so confirm both before you order.

Some products carry a scoped Amazon search link rather than a direct product link. That is deliberate and it is correct: Goal Zero, Battle Born, iKamper and a good deal of van-specific hardware sells direct or through dealers rather than through a consistent Amazon listing. Inventing a product code to make a card look complete would send you to the wrong item.

One product each, written for the point where you have already decided what you want and are looking for a reason not to buy it. Every one names the real weakness in its own section, and several recommend something cheaper or point you at a wired system instead of a box.

Electrical safety: a 12V system is low voltage but not low energy. Every circuit must be fused at the source of power, within a few inches of the battery terminal, at or below the ampacity of the smallest conductor it protects. Size cable for voltage drop as well as ampacity, and have any lithium installation inspected by a qualified installer before it carries load.
