- It solves the single most expensive mistake in lithium ownership. Charging LiFePO4 below freezing plates lithium onto the anode permanently, and this battery simply will not let you.
- Two heating modes let you trade speed against energy use, which matters when the heating draw itself comes from your bank.

- Heating consumes energy, and it comes from the battery or the charge source. In deep cold, a meaningful share of a charge session goes into warming the cells before any of it is stored.
- 100Ah is modest. For a fridge, a fan, lights and device charging over several days, most builds want more.
- LiTime note it is not suitable as a starting battery, nor for golf carts or jacks, which is a real limitation rather than fine print.
- Bluetooth activation may need a lithium-capable or MPPT charger after first receipt or after switching off, which surprises people.
- Self-heating protects against cold charging; it does nothing about the reduced usable capacity that all batteries show in the cold.

Owner reports across the lithium market converge on one lesson that has nothing to do with brand: cold charging is what destroys these batteries, it is silent, and it is not covered by any warranty. A self-heating battery removes that failure mode entirely, which is why it exists and why it costs more than a plain 100Ah. If you camp in winter, this is not an upgrade, it is the correct specification.
The second theme is sizing. 100Ah of lithium is roughly 1.28kWh nominal, and a fridge alone can use a meaningful share of that per day in warm weather. Why do lithium batteries need self-heating?
Charging LiFePO4 below freezing causes permanent lithium plating on the anode, which reduces capacity and can create an internal short. It happens silently and it is not reversible. A self-heating battery warms the cells above the safe threshold before accepting charge.
Can I discharge lithium in freezing weather?
Yes. Discharging below freezing is generally fine and simply delivers less usable capacity. It is charging that causes damage, which is why heating is applied before charging rather than all the time.
Is 100Ah enough for a van?
For a fridge, lights and device charging over a weekend, often yes with a good charging path. For a fridge plus a fan overnight for several days without driving, usually not. Work out your daily consumption rather than following a rule of thumb.
Can I use it to start my engine?
No. LiTime state it is not suitable as a starting battery. Starting batteries deliver very high current for a few seconds and are built differently; using a deep cycle lithium for that job risks the BMS and the battery.
Does self-heating waste much power?
In deep cold, a noticeable amount, because warming a battery pack takes real energy. The two heating modes exist so you can choose between heating quickly and heating efficiently depending on how much charge source you have.
Electrical safety: 12V is low voltage but not low energy. A lithium house battery can push several hundred amps into a short circuit, and undersized or unfused cable is one of the most common causes of vehicle fires in DIY builds. Every circuit must be fused at the source of power, within a few inches of the battery terminal, at or below the ampacity of the smallest conductor it protects. Size cable for voltage drop as well as ampacity, torque terminals to specification, and have a lithium installation inspected by a qualified installer before it carries load.
